Aim

2013

The AIM series is a stand against violence. Human substitutes and associated paraphernalia or objects are brought into question. The objects are then transformed to reconfigure, humanize, and provide alternate/opposite uses and consciousness to these objects. In this case, the human substitute is the shooting target. Visible and recognizable figures in our arts community posed for portraits and a target was overlaid. Portraits included Rick Griffith, Theresa Anderson, Phil Bender, Adam Lerner, Vivian le Courtois, Cortney Stell, and Clark Richert. The intended impact is evoking a sense of loss and vulnerability to the people in our lives. Perhaps viewers might make the leap to the devastation that would fall upon us should any of these people fall victim to an act of violence.
