Passage

Passage

2014

Passage was built as a part of a joint exhibition where I was given the charge to contribute an entryway or opening piece to the exhibit. The work serves as a passageway into the exhibition and means to play on the metaphor of passage and transformation along with the curator’s concept: Just Playin’. With the juxtaposition of the outside organic layers of bark with the contrasted inner layer of plexiglass with active light passing inward, people found themselves in what felt like a vortex, transmission center or otherworldly transport system. The LED’s are programmed to randomly breathe.
