Gateway

Gateway

2014

Gateway is the third substantial build I have directed working with cob, a sustainable material made from sand, straw, and clay. Gateway was built as a part of a much greater community effort to help save a small depopulating farming town: Joes, Colorado. Together with the local community, we built this architectural structure at the local grassroots center uniting community and strengthening the site as pilar for gathering. Such a build requires great deal of labor and collaboration, and this archway is a work in which each contributing member stakes ownership and pride to the site and the work itself.
