The AIM series is a stand against violence. I use human substitutes and associated paraphernalia or objects to reconfigure, humanize, and provide alternate/opposite uses and consciousness to these objects. In this case, the human substitute is the shooting target. I invited important, visible and recognizable figures in our arts community to pose for portraits and overlaid a target on their images including Rick Griffith, Theresa Anderson, Phil Bender, Adam Lerner, Vivian le Courtois, Cortnery Stell, and Clark Richert. The intended impact is that local viewers recognize these figures simultaneously evoking a sense of loss and vulnerability if any of these people were victim to an act of violence. I hope viewers might make the leap to the devastation with the proposal of such an incident.
